The show should have been excellent: a great set design, good choreography, and a talented and hardworking group of 5 actors who played multiple roles and switched effortless between them in the blink of an eye. BUT: I could only hear about 10% of the words. I thought this might be due to my age-related hearing loss, but other people I spoke to with no hearing loss had the same experience. I think the problem was a poor balance between the musical backing and the voices: I could hear most of the words when the actors spoke or sang unaccompanied, but this was only a small portion of the performance time. I was seated in the centre of the upper circle about 5 rows back, which would normally be ok for me. It was very disappointing to pay £47 for a ticket and only be able to get the main gist of the story.

I am amazed that show had received great reviews from many who have seen it before. The show was not really a musical because the 'songs' were so poorly presented and few of the small cast had good singing voices. The story line vaguely reflected the real 1943 Operation Mincemeat story, but this presentation was mostly absurdly written and acted, suggesting those actually involved did not know what they were doing; and worst still suggested most were dishonest and some seemingly proud of it. Perhaps it could be best described as 'a farce in poor taste', mocking the WW2 aim of deceiving the Nazi's that after beating Rommel in North Africa, the Allies were going to next invade by sea Sardinia rather than land in Italy or Sicily. In reality, Operation Mincemeat was an important part of the Allied deception.
